Gravel pit closing: A gravel pit used by target shooters will become a no-shooting area in about two weeks.
The Snohomish County Council voted to declare the pit outside Sultan as a no-shooting area following a petition drive by neighbors. The council’s unanimous decision went to County Executive Aaron Reardon’s office for final approval a week ago.
Reardon doesn’t plan on vetoing the decision, nor does he intend on quickly signing it, a spokesman said.
If that holds true, the gravel pit, located at the end of 116th Street SE, will be closed to shooters on March 14. Signs will be posted, informing target shooters of the change.
Tax credit deadline: Haiti Relief donations must be contributed to a charitable organization by midnight Sunday in order for taxpayers to claim the donation on their 2009 tax return.
Library work session: Sno-Isle Libraries Board of Trustees will hold a work session at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Inn at Port Gardner, 1700 West Marine Drive, Everett.
As this is a work session and not a regular business meeting, no actions will be taken.
Learn about school district’s budget plans: Community members, parents and staff are invited to attend a Stanwood-Camano School District budget presentation.
Meetings are 6:30 p.m. Monday in the district’s board room, 26920 Pioneer Highway in Stanwood, and 6:30 p.m. March 15 at Utsalady Elementary, 608 Arrowhead Road on Camano Island.
