Cascade Bank President and Chief Executive Carol Nelson is participating in a Pacific Northwest bank panel at the Sandler O’Neill &Partners 2010 West Coast Financial Services Conference this week in Marina Del Rey, Calif.
Nancy Hamilton of Edmonds, employment manager at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center, recently completed Homeland Security training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Ala. It is the only federally chartered weapons-of-mass-destruction training facility in the country.
Meribeth Hutchings of Windermere Real Estate/Lake Stevens and Diedre Haines of Coldwell Bank Bain Associates for Snohomish County in Lynnwood have been elected as officers on the Northwest Multiple Listing Service board. Hutchings was elected as a director and Haines was chosen as treasurer.
The Snohomish Chamber of Commerce recently presented awards to members for outstanding service in 2009. Honored were Carol Bell, manager, Peoples Bank, volunteer of the year; Marcie Owens, director, Snohomish Boys &Girls Club, community service award; Debbie Emge, economic development manager, city of Snohomish, Spirit of Snohomish award; Girl Scouts Troop 392, Future Community Leaders award; Carol Robinson, Girls Scout Troop 392, outstanding group leader; Karen Charnell, retired director of the Snohomish Senior Center, special recognition.
A special award was presented to Les Schwab Tire Centers for its continued support as the main sponsor of this annual Snohomish Chamber fundraising event. John Morton of the Snohomish County Search and Rescue a received $1,000 donation from the 2009 Greatest Pumpkin River Race proceeds. And Pam Osborne, manager of the Snohomish Chamber, presented special thanks to Darlene Daggett, who has been a weekly volunteer at the Chamber office.
Alex Golitzin of Quilceda Creek winery was named a semifinalist in the James Beard Foundation’s annual award for “Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional.” The winery is based in Snohomish and produces cabernet sauvignon that has received perfect scores from wine expert Robert Parker.
Events
The Snohomish County Young Professionals Network plans a social at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Mukilteo Lodge Sports Grille, 7928 Mukilteo Speedway.
A session on microcredit in developing countries is planned for 7 p.m. April 6 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 215 West Mukilteo Blvd., Everett. Panelists will be U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash.; Rick Beckett, president and chief executive of Global Partnerships; and Carol Schillios, founder of Fabric of Life. The event will be presented by the Snohomish County Chapter of RESULTS, a national nonprofit lobby working to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty.
The next meeting of the Downtown Everett Action Committee is set for 8 a.m. March 26 at the Vintage Cafe, 1510 Hewitt Ave., Everett. The speaker will be Lanie McMullin, Everett’s director of economic development.
Bob Williams, founder and president of the Evergreen Freedom Foundation, will discuss health insurance reform at Snohomish County Councilman John Koster’s next business roundtable session, planned for 7 a.m. March 4 at the Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St., Everett. Good deeds
Frontier Bank’s annual United Way campaign collected $199,834 for community assistance in Snohomish County and other places where the bank does business. More than half of the bank’s 700-plus employees made a pledge.
