Eastlake tops Lake Stevens boys 69-48

TACOMA — Michael Russo scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to go with three assists and two steals to lead Eastlake to a 69-48 first-round win over Lake Stevens Wednesday at the Class 4A boys basketball tournament.
Dillon Pericin added 12 points and Anas Elkugia 10 as the Wolves (18-8) broke open a close game, outscoring Lake Stevens 25-10 in the third quarter. Connor Iraola had five of Eastlake’s 13 steals in the game.
The Vikings (18-6) shot slightly better than Eastlake from the field (41 percent to 38 percent) but he Wolves got off 12 more shot attempts thanks to 22 Viking turnovers. Eastlake also had a 16-4 advantage at the free-throw line.
Lake Stevens got 12 points from Aaron Maw and 11 points and nine rebounds from Shane Kaska. Lake Stevens was just 2 of 17 from 3-point range.
