Give Everett feedback on Riverfront Development

EVERETT — City officials want to know what you think about parks, paths and open space for the Riverfront Development, a private-public project planned for the west bank of the Snohomish River.

A public hearing is set for 6 tonight at Spruce Hall at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd.

The 86-page document prepared by a consultant lists improvements, such as trails and wetland restoration, in detail.

The amenities projects are estimated to cost between $19.9 million and $35 million.

The highlights include:

  • A 3-acre park with a public open green space for festivals, a ramp and floating dock for moorage of canoes and kayaks, and a riverfront structure for taking in the river views;

    Improvements to Lowell Riverfront Park such as a possible interpretative center or picnic shelter, paved plaza and outdoor gathering areas, and as many as 65 paved parking lot slots;

    Trails along the shoreline, waterfront overlooks and pedestrian bridges;

    Wetland enhancements that include rechanneling Bigelow Creek and repairing riverbank slumps and slides.

    If the Everett Parks Board approves the plan, it will advance to the City Council.
