Faster train coming: The state Department of Transportation on Monday announced its recommended list of projects to build with $590 million it has been pledged from the federal government for faster trains.

Now the Federal Railroad Administration has to sign off on the individual projects. Most of the projects are aimed at increasing track capacity between Seattle and Portland., Ore. One project in Snohomish County made the cut, a $3.6 million project to build sidetracks in Everett’s Delta storage yard, which would free up more track space for trains.
