50 YEARS AGO (1960)

Mukilteo Mayor Dick Taylor was to host Gov. Albert Roselini and the party accompanying him tomorrow on a tour of Snohomish County. The public was invited to join the governor in inspecting Mukilteo State Park.

Everett’s newly annexed south area didn’t have to wait long to begin deriving benefits from its decision to tie to the city. Sidewalks were going up along Beverly Lane, giving the youngsters who had to dodge cars and trucks as they went to and from Evergreen Junior High School a safer journey.

25 YEARS AGO (1985)

Everett High School students Bill Marchand and Eric Lee unloaded beauty bark to kick off Pride Week at the school. They were among about 125 students who helped spruce up the school campus, picking up litter and spreading bark.

For years, waist-high weeds towered over the headstones in a graveyard that was more dead than alive. But there had been much change since the old Edmonds cemetery was donated to the city in 1982. Caretaker Marla Depew and her husband Doug spent several hours a day getting it into shape.
