Man suspected of crashing stolen car, fleeing on bicycle

LAKE STEVENS — Police arrested a Stanwood man suspected of stealing a stolen Mercedes near Lake Stevens.

He ran into a barn and then tried to get away on a stolen bicycle, Lake Stevens police said.

Police were notified that a reported stolen car with an activated LoJack system was in the area of Frontier Village on Tuesday morning, according to a police report filed Wednesday in Everett District Court.

An officer spotted the car and the driver sped off before crashing near the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 92, police said. That’s when the man, 31, ran into a nearby barn and came out on the bicycle.

The man was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude police and outstanding warrants.
