Parents, if you’re looking for free activities for the kids this Saturday, check out your local YMCA.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at all five of Snohomish County’s YMCA branches, including Everett, Marysville, Monroe, Mukilteo and Mill Creek.
Built around activities tailored to engage kids, Healthy Kids Day is part of the YMCA’s efforts to help families become more physically active.
You can look up each location’s events, activities and entertainment schedules at www. ymca-snoco.org.
In Everett, kids can learn to play racquetball, swim, partake in family games, try Zumba, enjoy face painting and jump around in a bouncy house. There will also be a roving clown for entertainment.
In Mukilteo, children can check out karate, skateboarding and meet contestants from the NBC TV show “The Biggest Loser” in addition to other attractions such as a bouncy house, balloons, face painting, ponies and horses.
Community health-care volunteers at various branches will provide vision, hearing, dental, nutrition and safety resources. Hands-on crafts will promote healthy lifestyles, family involvement and learning.
Experts recommend that kids engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity, including active play, each day.
