Everett: Railroad enthusiasts to meet

Snohomish Railfans plan to meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hilton Lake Fire Station, 3525 108th St. SE, Everett. A slide show begins at 7:30 p.m.

All railroad enthusiasts are welcome for an evening of camaraderie and information on railroading.

Help kick off Bike to Work Day at event

Community Transit has scheduled a kickoff event April 29 to teach people about National Bike to Work Day.

It lasts from 3 to 6 p.m. at Everett Public Schools’ Longfellow Building Annex, 3715 Oakes Ave., Everett. Organizers hope to provide refreshments, free bike-safety checks and prizes to 1,000 people on bicycles.

Bike to Work Day is May 21.

Mukilteo: Electronics recycling this weekend

The Mukilteo YMCA and eWaste LLC will offer free recycling of old TVs, computers, monitors, laptops and cell phones at the Mukilteo YMCA, 10601 47th Place W., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 17 and 18.

Mill Creek: Seeking commission member

Mill Creek seeks a volunteer to fill a vacancy on the city’s planning commission. The four-year term expires on April 30, 2013.

Planning commission meetings are held at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at City Hall.

Snohomish: It’s time for spring cleaning

The city will host its annual household cleanup event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 24.

Residents should bring a utility bill or driver’s licenses — along with their junk — to the public works yard, 1801 First St.

The city will accept household garbage, yard waste, furniture, scrap metal and appliances, although there is a $25 disposal fee for items containing freon.

The city cannot accept pharmaceuticals, tires, hazardous waste including paints and pesticides, and electronics including televisions and computers.

Glacier Peak High has culture fair is tonight

A free Glacier Peak High School Cultural Fair and Taste of Our Community is planned for 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at 7401 144th Place SE, Snohomish.

Meet exchange students from around the world, see American Indian dancers, hear German folk songs, view cultural displays and taste international foods.

Sultan: Senior safe driving class offered

Sky Valley Senior Center, 701 First St., Sultan, offers an AARP 55 Alive class at 9 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday. It costs $14 for non-AARP members and $12 for AARP members.
