Lynnwood: Hearing on Halls Lake plans

The City Council will hold a public hearing on a proposal to build 25 houses on the east end of Halls Lake in south Lynnwood at 7 p.m. Monday, April 26 at City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W.

Snohomish: Learn disaster preparedness

Snohomish County Fire District 7 is offering Community Emergency Response Team training. Participants will learn how to help in their own neighborhood when disaster strikes. Anyone capable of helping another person in an emergency can attend. Classes are planned for 7 p.m. May 4 through June 5, with most sessions held Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $30. Lake Stevens: Council to discuss development

Economic development is on the agenda for the Lake Stevens City Council tonight.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Services Center, 12309 22nd Street NE.

The council is planning a discussion of economic development in the city; no action is planned.

Sultan: Officials ask how parks are doing

City officials want to hear from residents — particularly families and young people — during an open house on the park system.

The meeting will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sultan Community Center, 319 Main St.

The city is updating its parks and recreation open space plan and wants to know what residents think about its green spaces.

The meeting also will touch on the city’s environmental impact statement, which may find officials planning for affordable housing and a commercial center at U.S. 2 and Rice Road.

Coupeville: Historical sites seeking funding

Two historical spots in the area are to be open to the public this weekend as part of a competition for a portion of $1 million in preservation grants from Partners in Preservation.

The historic Ferry House on Ebey’s Prairie at the Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve will be open to the public for the first time from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The free event includes music, stories, costumes and a rare tour of the pioneer home, thought to be one of the state’s oldest buildings.

The Bowman Bay kitchen shelter built by the Civilian Conservation Corps at Deception Pass State Park is to be open from 8 a.m. to dusk Saturday and Sunday.

The shelter is located on the Fidalgo Island side of the park at 41020 Highway 20, north of Oak Harbor. For more information, call 360-675-2417.
