Snohomish: Farmers market opens May 6

The Snohomish Farmers Market is looking for volunteers as it prepares for its May 6 opening.

Organizers need help running the customer counter, coordinating Farmers Market Week in August and organizing live music. Other opportunities may be available.

The market will be open from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, May 6 to Sept. 30 at First Street and Cedar Avenue.

The market is celebrating its 19th season this year, with vendors offering fresh fruit, vegetables, honey, baked goods and crafts.

Monroe: Cell-tower hearing next week

The City Council plans to hold a hearing on May 4 about a cell phone tower proposed by T-Mobile.

T-Mobile wants to build the 65-foot tower on the edge of an industrial area near Stanton Meadows Park. While that plan was initially approved by the city, residents living near the park objected. Now, the City Council may be the final judge on whether or not the tower can be built.

The council rescheduled an earlier hearing on the tower to give T-Mobile’s attorney a chance to review an audio recording of a past City Council meeting.
