EVERETT — The city’s parks and recreation folks have two activities planned to get people outside.

A boat expo is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 8 at the Thornton A. Sullivan Park, otherwise known as Silver Lake, 11405 W. Silver Lake Road.

Water craft activities are planned for newbies and senior skippers. Check out row boats, sail boats, kayaks and canoes. Learn about clubs and classes.

The city also is offering a series of hill climb events at Forest Park, beginning May 12.

The rest are set for noon June 16, July 14, Aug. 18 and Sept. 15.

Individuals or teams will race to see how far they can go in 30 minutes. The organization with the most members participating throughout the series wins a prize.

Registration is required. There’s a suggested donation of $5 per person that goes to a scholarship fund.

Runners and walkers will be on paved, dirt and gravel paths that aren’t appropriate for wheelchairs or strollers.

For more information, call 425-257-8300, ext. 2, or go to the recreation office at 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd., Everett.
