FEDERAL WAY — A King County sheriff’s spokesman says a Federal Way elementary school was locked down for several hours Monday after a student reported a suspicious item on the playground.
Sgt. John Urquhart said the item was a six-inch pipe bomb that a bomb squad safely detonated.
The lockdown at Rainier View Elementary was lifted shortly before 1 p.m.
