EVERETT – A dead person in a sleeping bag was found on the side of a road this morning

Someone spotted a sleeping bag lying along the roadway in the 2000 block of 100th Street SW and called 911 about 9:30 this morning, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.

The dark-colored sleeping bag was about 15 feet from the edge of the road in plain view. A human foot could be seen extending from the end of the bag, which was wrapped with duct tape, Goetz said.

The sleeping bag was not removed pendng an autopsy, so there were no immediate details about the victim, including age or sex, Goetz said.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit spent hours at the scene gathering evidence.

“Investigators are treating this case as a homicide,” he said.
