Herald second overall at SPJ awards

SEATTLE — The Herald brought home several first-, second- and third-place awards in the 2009 Society of Professional Journalists Pacific Northwest Excellence in Journalism competition, including second place in general excellence.
The competition is open to print, broadcast and online journalists in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. It covers the 2009 calendar year.
The awards were announced during awards banquets in Seattle and Portland on Saturday evening.
SPJ awards for daily newspapers with circulation between 25,001 and 65,000 went to Herald staffers:
