Sultan: Memorial sign unveiled

A memorial sign was unveiled Thursday afternoon to honor correctional officer Bruce Ramsey, who died Feb. 17 in a U.S. 2 motorcycle accident. Two signs will sit near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Rice Road, according to the state Department of Transportation. They will ask drivers headed both east and west to watch for motorcyclists, in Ramsey’s memory.

Ramsey, 47 of Sultan, was riding his motorcycle on U.S. 2 when a Honda sedan pulled out from Rice Road. He was unable to stop.

His family requested the memorial signs. About 30 of his friends and family gathered for the unveiling.

Ramsey is among the 54 people killed on U.S. 2 between Snohomish and Stevens Pass since 1999.
