Arlington: Kiwanis scholarship auctions
The Kiwanis Club of Arlington’s July 4 auctions begin with registration at 8 a.m. Sunday at Haller Park, 1100 West Ave.
The money raised is to be used for scholarships for graduating seniors in the Arlington and Lakewood school districts.
The first auction is scheduled to run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The second silent auction is 10 to 11 a.m.
The fundraiser continues at noon with a live auction.
Genealogy group seeks new location for library
The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society needs to find a new location for its library. Currently at 135 S. Olympic Ave., Arlington, the library has been preserving the records of the Stillaguamish River valley since 1985.
The library has more than 6,000 books and other historical items. The 80-member nonprofit society offers research sessions, genealogy classes and library hours for the public.
The library survives financially with the help of dues, grants and small donations.
The current location is no longer affordable for the society, member Michele Heiderer said. The society would like to find a new location by fall.

Darrington: White Chuck Road closed
The Forest Service is closing about four miles of White Chuck Road beginning from where it intersects with Mountain Loop Highway.
The closure of the road, also known as Forest Service Road 23, is scheduled until Sept. 1. The road is being repaired following the floods of 2003, ‘06 and ‘07.
The road is about 10 miles south of Darrington.

Marysville: 88th Street NE closures
Drivers on 88th Street NE between 67th Avenue NE and 61st Drive NE will face road closures today.
The road will be closed to allow Marysville city crews to take soil samples for possible future roadwork in the area.
The road is scheduled to be closed from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Signs have been placed along the road alerting the public, according to the city of Marysville.
Stanwood: Deadline for grant applications
The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation awards community grants to nonprofit organizations that benefit the residents of Stanwood and Camano Island.
Grants are now available and all applications are due to the foundation on or before July 15. Previous recipients include the Camano Animal Shelter, Josephine Sunset Home and the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
