Faulty switch cuts power to 4,500 in Monroe

MONROE — Roughly 4,500 Snohomish County PUD customers lost power late Tuesday morning in the north and east Monroe areas.

Most had their power returned within an hour.

The outage affected traffic lights in the area as well as businesses and homes.

Its was caused by a transmission switch that malfunctioned and needed to be fixed, said Neal Neroutsos, a PUD spokesman.
