Help the family of Russelle Yap

Friends of Russelle Yap, the Cascade High School student who drowned July 16 in the Skykomish River, plan to host a car wash fundraiser from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday for his family.

The event will be at the Skate Deck, 9700 19th Ave. SE, Everett.

An account to accept online donations also has been established. To donate, go to www.paypal.com, click “send money” and type in russelleyap@hotmail.com.

Firefighter’s don aprons: Lake Stevens Fire Department hosts an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast today and Sunday at the downtown fire station, at 12409 21st St. NE.

The breakfast of pancakes, ham and eggs will be served from 6 a.m. to noon. Donations will be accepted.

There will also be a dunk tank.

Boat launch closed for fest: The downtown Lake Stevens boat launch and accompanying parking lot on 17th Place NE are scheduled to be closed through Sunday for the annual Aquafest celebration.

Launching is available at Snohomish County’s Wyatt Park (Davies Beach) at 10508 Chapel Hill Road on the southwest side of the lake.
