Join Night Out events
In conjunction with National Night Out, Snohomish County will offer a crime prevention event at McCollum Pioneer Park on Aug. 4.
The annual event will feature free food, face painting, games and more, including a fly-in of the Snohomish County sheriff’s helicopter, weather permitting. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
Boat launch closed in Monroe: Hot weather means boats in the water, but know this before you head to Monroe:
The Lewis Street boat launch near the Skykomish River Bridge on Highway 203 is closed while workers install a new boat ramp and make other upgrades, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The project includes paving a portion of the site and adding wheelchair-accessible parking. The work is expected to be done by Thursday.
Cat giveaway: The Everett Animal Shelter at 333 Smith Island Road offers “Free Cat Wednesdays.”
Cats 6 months and older are available for adoption for free. Adoptions include spay and neuter. Those who adopt cats must pay $5 for a microchip and $10 for a pet license. For more information, call 425-257-6000 or go to www.ci.everett.wa.us.
Senior picnic coming up: The Ken Baxter Senior-Community Center is selling tickets for its annual Senior Picnic Barbecue, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Aug. 11 at Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave.
