Justin Roberts, one of the kings of kiddie rock, plays Silver Lake and he’s bringing music from his new CD “Jungle Gym” and the Not Ready for Naptime Players.
Roberts, known for his bespectacled boyish looks, crisp lyrics and infectious pop tunes, is a five-time Parents’ Choice Gold award winner who has come up with hits songs such as “Meltdown.” His hit album, “Pop Fly,” was selected as one of the top children’s music releases of 2008, according to press material about the show.
Roberts will perform new songs from “Jungle Gym,” including tunes on trick-or-treating, sleepovers, snow days and gym class parachutes, according to the press material.
The lyrics take listeners on a journey through childhood memories such as sailing in a cardboard box, the trauma of getting lost and the anticipation of a school fire drill.
A former Montessori preschool teacher, Roberts has been compared to Buddy Holly, Nick Lowe, Weezer and Paul McCartney.
