State fair begins with Monroe’s annual parade

In conjunction with the opening of the 102nd Evergreen State Fair on Thursday, Monroe is preparing to ring in the annual event with its Fair Days parade.
The parade will start at 11 a.m. Saturday. Road closures will begin at 10 a.m.
Organizers say the parade will last about an hour and will feature bands, horses, including some Clydesdales from Oklahoma, and eight or nine decorated floats.
Viewers must park on side streets. The parade route covers 179th Avenue SE and Main Street to Main Street and W. Blakeley Street.
179th Avenue SE will be closed from Hill Street to Main; Main Street will be closed from 179th Avenue SE to Blakeley; and Blakeley will be closed from Main Street to Hill Street.
Viewing will simply be along the roadside.
