Granite Falls: Bus driver earns honor

Tim Caldwell of Granite Falls has become Community Transit’s 70th active “Million Mile Driver.”

Caldwell has driven 12 ½ years for Community Transit without a preventable accident, meeting the National Safety Council’s standard for the Million Mile Driver designation, according to the agency.

Altogether, Caldwell has been driving for Community Transit for more than 15 years.

Caldwell also received the agency’s Chairman’s Award in 2007 for his work with Community Transit, and numerous commendations for skillful driving in severe weather conditions.

As a Million Mile Driver, Caldwell has a bus named in his honor. He also received a plaque, a Million Mile Driver jacket and patches for his uniform.

More than 20 percent of Community Transit’s current drivers have earned Million Mile Driver status, according to the agency.
