Arlington: Meet the fire chief candidates
The city of Arlington has scheduled an open house to give people a chance to meet the job candidates for fire chief. The open house is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in City Council chambers, 110 E. Third St.

Darrington: Chili feed, auction to benefit kids
The third annual Darrington Firefighters Chili Feed and Auction is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at Whitehorse Community Center at the corner of Highway 530 and Swede Heaven Road.
The Darrington Firefighter’s Association uses funds raised at the event to support the volunteer association’s annual Kid’s Fishing Derby and Easter Egg Hunt.
Dinner is by donation, with the auction to follow.

Marysville: Report potholes online
People who know about potholes that need to be filled can now report the road hazards on the city’s website.
A form for reporting potholes is at http://marysvillewa.gov/ pothole.aspx. People can also call 360-363-8100 to report a pothole.
When reporting online, people will need to provide the exact location of the pothole, including the street address and the names of cross streets or major intersections nearest the pothole.
The form also asks people to leave their name, address, telephone and e-mail address so the city can contact them if more information is needed or to send status reports.
Reports will be submitted to the Marysville Public Works Department Street Division.
Marysville: First aid and CPR training
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering certification for basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation Oct. 9 at the Ken Baxter Community Center.
The first aid class is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. CPR training will be from 1 to 4 p.m.
Those who are interested in taking the class must register through the Marysville Parks and Recreation office. The cost is $30 per class.
The Ken Baxter Community Center is at 514 Delta Ave.

Stanwood: Another round of clean audits
The state Auditor’s Office this month released its annual audit report for the city of Stanwood. The auditors found no problems with the city’s handling of its finances.
The 2009 audit marks a string of more than 10 years with “clean” audits, said city finance director Crystil Robinson.
“It’s something to be proud of,” Robinson said. “Our entire city staff makes this kind of audit record possible.”
