Arlington: Chicken dinner set for Sunday

The monthly old-fashioned style chicken dinner is scheduled to be served from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. Cost is $8 or $7 for seniors and $5 for children younger than 12.

The menu includes coleslaw, baked chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables and dessert. Entertainment is by Gary Lee Hood.

Camano Island: Flu preparedness talk

The Camano Preparedness Group plans a meeting at 1 p.m. today at Terry’s Corner Fire Station. Dr. Roger Case, Island County health officer, is scheduled to provide current information on the H1N1 flu. Visitors are welcome.

Camano: Auction supports senior center

The 2009 Island Gala Auction to support Camano Senior and Community Center is set for Saturday.

Tickets for the third annual gala auction and dinner event are available at the center, 606 Arrowhead Road. Formal attire is suggested.

Darrington: Comment on Monte Cristo mine

Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest officials hope to get public comment on an effort to clean up the Monte Cristo mine area.

District Ranger Peter Forbes and engineer Rod Lentz plan to present cleanup alternatives for the historic area at 7 p.m. Monday at the Darrington Ranger District office, 1405 Emmens Ave. N., Darrington.

Marysville: Reader board available

The city of Marysville has installed an electronic community information reader board at Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue.

The board is available for service clubs and other groups to announce events and activities.

Groups may apply to have events listed. Applications are available on the city Web site or at the Marysville Parks Office at 6915 Armar Road in Jennings Park.

Applications must be received two weeks prior to the requested posting date. Space is available on four lines with 13 letters per line. Announcements run for two weeks.

Marysville Community Coalition to meet

The Marysville Community Coalition’s first fall meeting is planned for Oct. 6.

The meeting is scheduled for 8 to 9:15 a.m. at the Ken Baxter Senior Community Center, 514 Delta Ave. The public is invited.

The nonprofit coalition is a loose network of 16 organizations from around the city. It was originally formed around fighting drug abuse and has branched out to become a general information resource.

Stanwood: Library seeks teen advisers

Stanwood Library’s teen advisory board plans to meet at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW.

Teens are invited to earn volunteer hours while sharing their ideas for library programs, purchases and improvements.
