Airbus still expects to make A320 decision this year

Airbus officials still expect to make a decision on the future of the company’s single-aisle A320 this year, according to reports Friday.

Engineers at Airbus met at the end of September to discuss different prospects for the A320, including new engines for the competitor of Boeing’s 737. But media sources said then that Airbus’ engineers are leaning toward completely redesigning the aircraft and introducing an all-new jet.

French newspaper Les Echos reported on Friday that Airbus officials still plan to make the final decision on the A320 before year’s end despite postponing a meeting on the single-aisle jet this week.
