Accident cleared from I-5 in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — No one appeared to be seriously injured in a multi-car accident that blocked northbound I-5 at 44th Avenue W. in Lynnwood for two hours on Wednesday.

However, a Seattle man, 41, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be checked for internal injuries, officials said.

Traffic backed up six miles to NE 145th Street in Shoreline after the 3:19 p.m. accident, officials said. Five vehicles were involved, including an airport shuttle van carrying six people, according to Trooper Keith Leary of the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened when a vehicle pulling a flatbed truck rolled over, causing four other vehicles to crash into each other, one of which rolled over onto its top, Leary said. At least three vehicles were totalled.

The accident was not cleared until about 5:30 p.m.
