An amazing outpouring of love

As the wife of an Everett police officer, I wanted to thank the many people who came out to honor the slain Lakewood police officers as well as the police in general at the funeral Tuesday in Tacoma.

Everett was the last department in the funeral procession, and we had the privilege of watching the entire procession as we waited at the entrance to McChord Air Force Base.

The wonderful people of Ta Chen International, Inc. and Comfort Design Windows &Doors opened their businesses to those waiting for the procession to use their restrooms and Comfort Design provided hot coffee and cookies (and a pair of jumper cables). They deserve the highest praise for their service.

Additionally, I would like to thank the lady in the blue coat who stood across the street the entire three and a half hours with her hand across her heart and a smile on her face. She stood out in the freezing cold, not moving an inch. There were also two military men who stood at attention the entire procession. I just hope they know how much their actions meant to my husband and all of the officers from Everett.

It was an amazing outpouring of love and honor.

If you want to bring a tough guy to tears, just tell him how much you love and appreciate him. I’ve only seen my husband cry once before, but yesterday he was overcome with the emotion and gratitude for all of those who showed so much gratitude to him and all his fellow officers.

So many times, cops only see the bad elements in society. But Tuesday was such a meaningful and healing day for all of the officers as they saw the outpouring of love and appreciation from people in all walks in life who they serve and protect.

Thank you all so much for your support!
