As part of cuts the Boeing Co. announced last year, the company will reduce its Long Beach, Calif., workforce by 900 people by the end of 2012.
Boeing said Thursday that it will cut another 200 jobs from three sites: Macon, Ga.; Mesa, Ariz.; St. Louis.
The company will deliver 13 C-17 Globemaster III airlifters in 2011 as Boeing moves to a new production rate of 10 C-17s per year.
Meanwhile, Boeing and aerospace companies tied to commercial airplanes have been hiring in Washington. Here in Snohomish County, aerospace added 900 jobs last month.
With commercial airplanes’ production ramping up, both Boeing and the state’s aerospace industry lobbying group are looking for ways to keep a steady supply of trained workers.
