GE Capital Aviation Services has placed a firm order for a dozen Airbus A330 aircraft, the companies said Monday.

“This order adds to our existing portfolio of A330 aircraft,” said Norman C. T. Liu, GECAS president and CEO, in a statement. “A key part of our strategy is to expand our wide-body product offerings to satisfy customer demand.”

With the order for 12 A330-300s, the leasing company has ordered a total of 32 A330s.

“This repeat order from GECAS underscores the ongoing popularity of the A330, and highlights the strong market demand for the A330-300 in particular” said John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer.
