GRANITE FALLS — Firefighters had to truck in water Wednesday night to combat a rural house fire in the Getchell area.

The fire was reported just before 10 p.m., said Travis Hots, fire chief for Snohomish County Fire District 22.

The glow

from the flames could be seen from miles away as crews headed in, he said. The fire was located in the 9200 block of 147th Avenue NE, west of Granite Falls.

A shaky bridge made it impossible for the trucks carrying water to get close to the house, he said. There weren’t hydrants in the area so water trucks were brought in from Marysville, Lake Stevens, Granite Falls and Lake Roesiger fire departments.

The fire was extinguished in about two hours, Hots said. The house was considered a total loss. The family who lived there is getting assistance from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Thursday. No injuries were reported.
