Mudflats and the whales

Spring will be here someday, and Eschrichtius robustus will cruise Saratoga Passage again.

Those of us who aren’t scientists call them gray whales, and they pass though the area twice a year on migrations.

Our mudflats are “farms” for them, where they harvest shrimp and worms, and the subject of a seminar with Howard Garrett of the Orca Network at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way.
