Jance to read from latest mystery at local stores

Author J.A. Jance will bring “Fatal Error,” her latest whodunit, to the area for some readings and signings.
“Fatal Error” has the intrepid Ali Reynolds using her journalism and police training to unravel a friend’s involvement in the murder of a man she met online. The man seems to have been luring several women, all of them now suspects.
You can meet Jance at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the University Book Store at Mill Creek, 15311 Main St.; 1 p.m. Feb. 10 at Fred Meyer, 9925 State Ave., Marysville; and 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at Third Place Books, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park.

Other Third Place events include prolific author Alice Hoffman and her latest magical mystery, “The Red Garden.” Hoffman will read from and sign copies of her book at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Third Place.
The fictional lives of the characters in “The Red Garden” play out against the historical background of a New England town, from the first settlers to modern times.
The book’s list price is $25.
Also coming up at Third Place, writer Susan Wiggs of Bainbridge Island and her daughter, Elizabeth Wiggs Maas, discuss a real-life collaborative effort, “How I Planned Your Wedding.”
Wiggs and her daughter will be at the bookstore at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 to share their comic, cautionary tale of trying to plan a storybook wedding. The pair will offer tips from the book on keeping wedding plans under control.

Get in the wayback machine at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mukilteo Library as Bryan Stratton takes a musical tour of ’60s singers and songwriters such as Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and The Beatles.
Singing along is encouraged.
