Talk cranes today in Everett: Attend a hearing on whether two cranes located at the Port of Everett’s Pacific Terminal can stay in place.
The hearing is scheduled for 9 this morning at 2930 Wetmore Ave., Suite 8-C.
The port received a permit to install new rail beams on the wharf to support two cranes. The 40-ton cranes, bought from the Port of Seattle, have improved the port’s ability to handle container-cargo shipments.
The Port’s Marine Terminals Master Plan calls for eventually moving one of the cranes off Pacific Terminal and adding two cranes at the Port’s South Terminal once it is redeveloped, said Port spokeswoman Lisa Lefeber.
The permit required a public hearing if the cranes were still in place five years later, which they are.
The hearing examiner will take public testimony and consider whether to keep the cranes in place for another five years.
