Folks who have done something special for the community in the past year will be honored Saturday at a Sky Valley Community Award Celebration.

The ceremony is planned for 5 p.m. at Sultan High School, 13715 310th Ave. SE in Sultan. The event is free.

Make Valentine’s Day cards: The Snohomish Library invites families to come in between 2 and 3 p.m. Sunday to make Valentine’s Day cards and decorate cookies.

The library is at 311 Maple Ave. in Snohomish.

Win a prize if someone finds one of several paper hearts that will be hidden inside the library.

Hearing about historic preservation plan: The Everett Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on a proposed historic preservation plan at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, 8th floor, 2930 Wetmore Ave.

The plan is a strategic document that identifies downtown properties and sites and proposes action items that are intended to preserve, enhance and market those properties.

Examples of potential action items include identifying tax abatement and low-interest loan programs; finding ways to use vacant or distressed buildings; or adding signs, walking tours, art or plaques to historic buildings.

The area covered in the plan is the Central Business District.
