Jones best in Big Sky

Former Meadowdale High School basketball player Eryn Jones, a junior guard at Portland State University, has been named the Most Valuable Player in the Big Sky Conference for the 2010-11 women’s basketball season.
Jones, who lives in Lynnwood, was the sole unanimous selection to the all-confe
rence first team and was the only player in the league to rank in the top five in seven statistics _ points (14.0, fifth), assists (4.9, third), 3-point percentage (45.3, first), free throw percentage (85.0, second), assist to turnover ration (1.7, second), minutes (34.5, third), and 3-pointers per game (2.3, fourth).
Nationally, Jones ranked fifth in 3-point percentage.
Jones, a 2008 Meadowdale graduate, scored a career-high 23 points and made two free throws with four seconds left to clinch Portland State’s 65-63 victory over Montana State last weekend, earning the Vikings their first Big Sky Conference regular-season title.
