Arlington: Free flights for girls, women

Arlington Airport businesses and pilots are participating in Women of Aviation International Week by offering free flights to girls and women who have never flown in a small aircraft.

Pilot Karlene Petitt plans to talk about the power to

accomplish goals at 5 p.m. Friday at Out of the Blue Aviation. Reservations are requested. Call 360-474-1060.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, pilots plan to offer short rides to girls and women from Out of the Blue Aviation near the NASA restaurant.

Camano Island: Town hall meetings

State Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen plans to talk about the legislative session and hear concerns from constituents from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday during a town hall meeting at the Camano Community and Senior Center, 606 Arrowhead Road.

Haugen also plans to host a similar meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Coupeville Recreation Hall, 90 N. Alexander St.

Granite Falls: Spots open on Parks Board

The city of Granite Falls is looking for volunteers to serve on the city’s Parks Board.

Lakewood: Sports boosters plan auction

Tickets are on sale for the Lakewood Sports Boosters annual auction and dinner fundraiser, set for 5 p.m. Saturday at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.

Tickets are $25, and can be purchased by e-mailing lhs booster@wavecable.com.

Proceeds support college scholarships, athletic camps and equipment to enhance athletics in the Lakewood School District.

At the dinner, Lakewood coaches will be honored and Lakewood Hall of Fame athletes will be recognized.

Silvana: Fair Board Auction is Saturday

The annual Silvana Fair Board Auction is set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Viking Hall, 1331 Pioneer Highway.

The auction is the primary support for the annual one-day, youth-based free fair in July.

This year’s auction items include a miniature donkey, a golf cart, a load of gravel, the auction’s famous baked goods, animal feed, handmade quilts, artwork, ground beef, sausage sticks, bacon, ham, gold earrings and candles.

Registered bidders have a chance to win $250 at the end of the auction.

Stanwood: Meeting for Relay for Life

A Stanwood-Camano Relay for Life team meeting is set for 6:45 tonight at the Stanwood-Camano Fairgrounds, 6431 Pioneer Highway.
