Arlington: Happy Soils Festival set
The Arlington Red Rooster Route has added another festival to its calendar.
People are invited to a free open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Garden Treasures Nursery, 3328 Highway 530.
Free demonstrations include those about c
ompost and fertilizer.

Darrington: Business group set to meet
The Darrington Area Business Association is set to meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cascade Senior Center, 1115 Darrington St.
The public is welcome.
Granite Falls: Police chief to be sworn in
Chief Dennis Taylor is set to be sworn in as the city’s police chief during a ceremony tonight.
The swearing in is scheduled at 7 p.m. at the Granite Falls Eagles Club, 402 N. Granite Ave.

Marysville: Free family swims
Families can swim for free today and Saturday.
The family swim sessions are scheduled from 7 to 9 tonight at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School Pool, 5611 108th St. NE., and again from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Marysville YMCA, 6420 60th Drive NE.
YMCA swimmers ages 16 and older must present a photo ID at check-in, and swimmers ages 15 and younger must be with an adult and pass a swim test.

Silvana: Nursery offers free classes
Wild Song Nursery offers free classes for gardeners.
Gardening with and for wildlife is the subject at 4 p.m. Saturday, “Black Thumb Solutions” is the class title at 4 p.m. Sunday and gardening with baby boomers is the class at 4 p.m. Monday.
Located at 21313 36th Ave NW, the nursery can be found by following purple signs from Pioneer Highway in Silvana.

Stanwood: Shoe drive ends Wednesday
The annual Z’s Shoe Drive in Stanwood is collecting shoes this year for local families. In the past, the shoe drive has sent shoes abroad.
Sturdy shoes (gently used are fine) for men, women and children are needed.
They can be dropped off at Z’s Body and Soul Shoppe, 9504 271st St. NW.

Poker tournament to benefit memorial fund
The sixth annual Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament to benefit the Davis Carlson Memorial Fund is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Stanwood Camano Fairgrounds. The memorial fund supports scholarships and activities for youth.
