Rally in Lake Stevens
A Support Our Troops rally is planned for noon Saturday at the war memorial at 1808 124th Ave. NE in Lake Stevens.
The festivities include a barbecue, entertainment and a Blackjack Flying Club flyover with the “Missing Man” formation, weather permitting, says Tom Thorleifson, commander of the American Legion Post 181.
The Blackjacks are professional pilots based out of Arlington Airport who are former military or commercial aviators. They are the only ones certified to fly in formation in the area, besides active-duty military.
The barbecue is free for those who participate in an annual photo and observe the flyover. Wear red, white and blue. Support Our Troops posters will be given away. The picture that is taken will be posted online at the Legion’s website so everyone can access it and email it to military members around the country and the world.
The American Legion and the Auxiliary will have information about Blue Star service banners for the families of the men and women who are serving in the Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, the Reserves or the National Guard.
