FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Firefighters have contained one wildfire threatening Fairbanks, and plan to drop more retardant on another.
Fire officials tell the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that no evacuations have been ordered as a result of a blaze on up to 800 acres on Moose Mountain.
It was described as active on Saturday, and firefighters worried about thunderstorms rolling in.
In South Fairbanks, fire officials say they’re assessing damage in a four-block area where a wind-driven brush fire on Friday afternoon touched off other blazes. Residents say that they lost a few outbuildings and vehicles.
