LAKE STEVENS — Fire on Wednesday destroyed a former chicken farm building north of Lake Stevens.

Damage was estimated at about $200,000.

The building on the 4030 block of 99th Ave. NE had been used for storage, but was largely vacant, officials said. There were a few farm animals inside.

“The cause is undetermined, but we can’t eliminate an electrical problem,” Snohomish County Fire Marshal Bruce Pulver said.

The fire was reported shortly before 10 a.m.

Firefighters from District 8 in Lake Stevens and several neighboring districts battled the blaze.

“Nobody was hurt, thank goodness, not even the chickens,” Pulver said.
