Town, visiting vets lift family’s spirits

We were honored last weekend by the arrival of the combat veterans and Marine Corps buddies of our son, Cpl. Jeff Starr. Meeting them and sharing memories and hearing stories gave us new glimpses of our son … for so long missed.
This town, Snohomish, also honored us and these fine heroes wh
o sacrificed much in their service to our country. We are so proud of this town. Business owners recognized these men by displaying on their reader boards words of thanks to Bravo 1/5. These young men were stunned seeing these signs — making U-turns to make sure it’s what they saw, stopping to take pictures of the signs and simply taken aback that they would be honored in this way.
Another business, Windermere, gathered baked goods to welcome these fellows and some sweet letters from a fourth grade class at Emerson Elementary. These young men also were impressed with the size and quality of the Memorial Day service at GAR Cemetery. Several of them commented they would not have the kind of support in their hometowns that we receive here (although, I believe they would be surprised.) Thank you, Snohomish, and Semper Fi.
With gratitude,
Brian and Shellie Starr
Snohomish
