More closures of Highway 522 in Monroe are planned for this week, beginning tonight, as crews work on a widening and safety project.

Drivers should plan to take an alternate route or allow for delays Monday through Thursday nights this week.

Weather permitting, crews will close both directions of Highway 522 at the U.S. 2 interchange from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for drainage and paving work Monday through Thursday nights. Drivers will be detoured around the closure using 164th Street SE, Fryelands Boulevard and U.S. 2.

The work is part of the $23 million widening and safety project for the interchange of Highway 522 and U.S. 2. Crews are building a new direct ramp from eastbound Highway 522 to eastbound U.S. 2: the state’s project page.
