Night Out talent show

The Lake Stevens Family Center plans a talent show Aug. 2 during the community’s National Night Out Against Crime event.

Those who want to perform for up to three minutes can call the Lake Stevens Family Center to register and receive a performance time.

The National Night Out Against Crime event, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on Main Street and at North Cove Park, will include children’s activities, a free dinner and the third annual “Guns and Hoses” showdown between the Lake Stevens police and fire departments. Street hockey is to be hosted by the Boys & Girls Club.

Nubian Jam planned: Nubian Jam, Snohomish County’s annual festival celebrating African-American heritage, is planned from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 30 at Forest Park, 802 Mukilteo Blvd., Everett.

The festival features Gospel choirs, vendors, belly dancers, Zumba, a sweet potato pie contest, kids activities, an open mic talent contest and Black Pioneers of the Northwest Photo Exhibit.

All are welcome.

Nubian Jam organizers are looking for merchandise, health and social service vendors.
