Firefighters in Lake Stevens recently won an award for everyone at the department participating in a seat-belt-safety program.
All of the firefighters at Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens made pledges to wear their seat belts, spokeswoman Laana Larson said.
The program, Everyone Goes Home Seatbelt Pledge, was formed after a firefighter fatally fell from his truck during a call.
Mukilteo Assistant Fire Chief Brian McMahan presented the award at a recent district commissioners meeting.
Lake Stevens is the ninth fire department in the state to complete the program, Fire Chief Dave Lingenfelter said.
