Live blogs making their triumphant return

Published 5:30 pm Wednesday, September 21, 2011

That’s right, the away game live blogs will be back for another season. For each of Everett’s away games, I’ll once again be moderating live blogs. I encourage everyone to stop by and join the conversation. Unless CoverItLive has changed its rules, the first 25 people who comment with a screen name will be given free access to comment without needing the comments to be approved by me, so make sure you get here early.

I bring this up now because the Tips open on the road this season. They travel to Portland for the season opener Friday, meaning the first live blog of the season is just two days away. So put it on your calendar.

A couple other things I wanted to mention today:

Goaltender Kent Simpson is back to practicing at full speed. Simpson, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery during the offseason and missed all of the preseason, was not expected to be ready to return at the start of the season. But now it’s at least possible Simpson will be able to go this weekend.

Finally, former Silvertips winger Brady Calla made an appearance following practice this afternoon. Calla donned his gear and jumped on the ice at Comcast Arena after practice was over. He was getting some skating in before heading off to play this season in the ECHL. He said he’d be playing in either Ontario (Calif.) or Bakersfield.

Wow. Brady Calla and Mitch Love both on the ice at Comcast Arena. It felt just like old times.
