Boeing, ANA inspect first 787 ahead of delivery next week

Workers from the Boeing Co. and All Nippon Airways recently spent 10 hours inspecting the first 787 Dreamliner that will be delivered next week.

As the launch customer of the Dreamliner program, Japan’s ANA will be the first customer to receive a 787. A delivery celebration is scheduled for Monday. ANA will fly its Dreamliner home to Tokyo on Tuesday.

Boeing and ANA inspectors recently went through that first jet, looking for any problems. The process of checking an aircraft before its delivery is a tedious one. It took Boeing and ANA 10 hours to complete this step, known as the “customer walk-through,” which takes place prior to every aircraft delivery.

Boeing gives more details of the inspection with ANA in this report from Boeing.
