Arlington: Graham Kerr to speak
Graham Kerr is the noon speaker at the Stillaguamish Senior Center’s annual Health and Social Services Fair set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.
Kerr, best known as The Galloping Gourmet, plans to talk about t
he importance of good health, good taste and good fun.
Representatives from the Social Security Administration, the Department of Social and Health Services and Senior Services of Snohomish County also plan to be on hand to provide information about services available to people in the county.
Health screenings also will be available, including bone density scans, memory screenings, glucose readings and more.

Lake Stevens: Retirement party
A retirement reception is planned today for longtime Lake Stevens firefighter Dave Safford.
Safford retired this month after nearly 18 years as a paramedic and firefighter with Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens. He also worked for a long time with Snohomish County Fire District 21, which covers rural Arlington.
The reception and open house are planned for 3 to 5 p.m. at the Lake Stevens Fire Conference Center at 10518 18th St. SE. There will be a special ceremony for Safford at 3:30 p.m. The public is invited.
Single lane closure on Sunnyside Boulevard
The Snohomish County Department of Public Works is planning a single-lane closure on Sunnyside Boulevard.
The closure from the 400 block to the 900 block of Sunnyside Boulevard is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Tuesday.
B&B Utilities and Excavating will be working to raise manholes to the new pavement elevation during the closure.

Marysville: Clean financial audit
The city of Marysville received a clean audit from the Washington state Auditor’s Office for 2010. This marks the fifth consecutive year the city has had a report with no findings.
The state Auditor’s Office conducts annual audits of financial statements and evaluates internal controls of cities and counties statewide.
“This significant accomplishment (of five years without findings) shows the city’s dedication to sound financial operations and reporting,” state Auditor Brian Sonntag wrote in the audit report letter.
YMCA starts program for dads and kids
The Marysville YMCA plans to start a program for fathers and their children.
The Kids-N-Pops program is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Marysville YMCA Youth Development Center, 6420 60th Drive NE. It will run Tuesdays and Thursdays through Dec. 15 and include light dinners, field trips and group outings. The program is free.
