Lake Stevens: Kids’ art goes on display
Artwork by Sunnycrest Elementary School students in Lake Stevens is to be exhibited by the Schack Art Center beginning Tuesday in Everett.

t. 20 in the Emerging Young Artist Gallery, at the art center, 2921 Hoyt Ave.

Lynnwood: Police dogs added to force
Two new police dogs are at work in Lynnwood.
“Eli” will be working with officer Jake Shorthill, and “Zando” will be working with officer Joe Dickinson.
The dogs were paid for with community donations and a large grant from Milk-Bone, the dog treats company, officials said.
Lynnwood now has four police dogs, one for each shift.
Monroe: County budget forum Monday
Learn more about Snohomish County’s 2012 budget process at Monroe’s East County Senior Center Monday night.
The meeting is one of three the County Council has scheduled this week.
It’s scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 276 Sky River Parkway, Monroe.
The event will give people a chance to tell County Council members their opinions about spending priorities.
Another meeting is planned at the same time Tuesday at the Alderwood Water District, 3626 156th St. SW, Lynnwood. That’s followed at the same time Wednesday by a third meeting at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave.

Everett: Free flu shots at clinic Saturday*
Molina Healthcare of Washington is offering 300 free flu shots to adults and children at its South Everett Clinic on Saturday.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The clinic is at 15 SW Everett Mall Way.

Edmonds: Forum for mayor, council races
Candidates for Edmonds mayor, Edmonds City Council, Snohomish County races and the Edmonds School Board have been invited to a forum Thursday at Edmonds United Methodist Church.
The address is 828 Caspers St. The 7 p.m. event is being sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the American Association of University Women and the Edmonds United Methodist Outreach Team. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Appointed Mayor Mike Cooper faces former longtime City Councilman Dave Earling on Nov. 8. Four Edmonds City Council seats are up for election as well. Contested county races are county executive, county assessor and two County Council seats, including the council district that includes Edmonds.
Two Edmonds School Board positions are being contested this fall while another candidate is running unopposed for a third spot.
