MILL CREEK — Police and neighbors worked together Saturday night to nab a man suspected of driving a stolen vehicle through Mill Creek and running from officers.

About 11:30 p.m., a Mill Creek officer began following a suspicious vehicle in the 2200 block of 137th Street SE, detective Sgt. K

ate Hamilton said.

While the officer waited for backup to make a traffic stop, the driver stopped the car, jumped out and ran, Hamilton said. A Lynnwood police dog followed the trail, turning up a stolen handgun in a bag under some bushes.

Neighbors soon called police to report a suspicious man on a bicycle in the area, Hamilton said. The man, 27, reportedly was riding a stolen bike when police found him.

The man was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of possessing stolen property, mail theft, driving with a suspended license and a drug-related offense.
